Our Vision
What good is looking great and being fit if it’s not leading to a better life? For example, weight loss and performance are certainly admirable goals, but they’re often pursued in an unsustainable way that eventually leads to failure, disappointment, and even compromised health.
We’re here to show you how to achieve your goals in a manner that’s not only sustainable, but also healthy, thereby giving you the energy, clarity, and motivation for living a more fulfilling (fitfilled) life.
Our Values
A true passion for helping you use fitness and health to enhance your life is at the core of everything we do.
Integrity – We take pride in walking our talk and leading by example. Our commitment to making the most of our own lives provides the experience and inspiration to help you do the same. Aside from special circumstances, it’s rare that we would recommend something to you that we haven’t done ourselves, or at least experimented with. We’ve already been through many of the challenges you may encounter and we’ll use our personal experience while developing the best solutions to help you get past them.
Safety and Effectiveness – Physicians are expected to abide by the ethical responsibility to “first do no harm.” We strongly believe that this commitment to safety should not just apply to physicians, but to any professional offering health or fitness advice. As such, your health and safety are of great concern to us and are major considerations in how we deliver our services. We also want to make sure you’re getting as much benefit as possible from your hard work. That’s why we take great care in evaluating the potential risks and rewards associated with any recommendations we make, and base them on a combination of practical experience and interpretation of relevant scientific research.
Practicality – We don’t see much value in enduring months of hard work if the process proves to be too overwhelming to sustain. The extreme exercise and dieting often used to induce dramatic transformations often leads to failure. That’s not our style. While certain circumstances may warrant an aggressive approach, our intent is to help you develop new habits that can be realistically maintained for the rest of your life without feeling like you’re making excessive sacrifices. We want to help you achieve great results, but it’s equally important that we make sure you’ll be able to maintain them.
Appreciation – We consider the personal connection between a coach and client to be a critical component of success. Goals, abilities, preferences, and sources of motivation are unique to you and we take great care in customizing the transformation process to best suit your specific needs, supporting you throughout with kindness and respect.
Our Team
Kayla Radliff, BS, CFSC
Kayla has a bachelor’s degree in Fitness Development from the State University of New York at Cortland. She is also a Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC), a certified Functional Movement Screen specialist, and a certified provider of Functional Range Conditioning. Kayla has experience leading clients towards a wide variety of goals, but particularly enjoys helping people improve their health, appearance, and self-confidence through weight loss. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to personally connect with each client and, in turn, provide a supportive, friendly, and fun setting for their transformation. A primary focus of Kayla’s work as a fitness trainer is running corporate wellness programs, which has given her a strong appreciation for the challenges that busy professionals face when trying to implement healthier lifestyle habits.
As part of Kayla’s formal training, she completed an internship in an integrative chiropractic clinic, which gave her an invaluable understanding of how to interact with clients in a truly professional manner. In addition, regularly observing treatment of pain and injury also instilled in her an appreciation for the physical risks associated with exercise. Identification and correction of factors predisposing to injury are therefore key to the fitness programs she designs for her clients. Kayla is also a former gymnast, which gives her further appreciation for injury prevention and the needs of athletes.
Vin Miller, PhD, CSCS
Vin earned his PhD in Interdisciplinary Nutrition from The Ohio State University (go Buckeyes!). His research was focused on the influence of a ketogenic diet and exercise on mitochondria function, body composition, physical performance, and metabolic health. In general, Vin is primarily interested in how nutrition, exercise, and other lifestyle factors can be used to improve health and athletic performance.
Prior to his PhD, Vin earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and was a software engineer for nearly 20 years. His persistence in figuring out how to use healthier lifestyle habits to overcome chronic fatigue syndrome intensified his interest in the science behind common nutrition and exercise recommendations. This interest led Vin to complete two master’s degrees: one in Human Nutrition, the other in Kinesiology. Since then, Vin continues to be very passionate about helping others use a healthier lifestyle to live a better life.
In addition to his academic and research experience, Vin has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) since 2010 and has also completed certification programs related to Hardstyle kettlebell training, functional strength training, the Functional Movement Screen, corrective exercise, fitness training and assessment for tennis and golf, and the roles of exercise, nutrition, and other lifestyle factors in supporting health and performance. Vin has also competed in a variety of organized sports, including baseball, ski racing, and tennis. He continues to be an avid tennis player and golfer.
