We are Kayla and Vin, the daughter-father team dedicated to helping you look and feel your best and get more out of life. Before you put your trust in us, we figure you might want to know a little more about us.
After dealing with chronic fatigue for many years, Vin finally realized there was a better way. After minimal improvement from working with doctors, endocrinologists, dietitians, and other specialists, Vin decided to attack the problem through the one thing he had full control of – his lifestyle habits.
In 2007, Vin made some big changes and dramatically improved how he felt (and lost 30 lbs in the process). But that wasn’t enough. The conflicting, outdated, and politicized information he had to make sense of made him want to understand the underlying science.
Two master’s degrees, a PhD, a career change, and numerous certifications later, Vin is now passionate about empowering others with the ability to be confident in their own lifestyle choices. Since 2007, he’s never turned his back on healthy habits and has been feeling great ever since (and helping others do the same)!
Thanks to Vin, Kayla got an early introduction to living a healthy lifestyle. But college life led her astray. Despite being at school to become a fitness professional, she was far from feeling her best.
She was living college life to the fullest, but it came with consequences. She had frequent headaches and stomach pain, she had a lot of trouble sleeping, and the weight she gained led to a loss of confidence and unhealthy thoughts about her body.
Just like Vin, Kayla took ownership of the situation and fully committed herself to a healthier lifestyle. While her college education taught her a lot about fitness, living the typical college lifestyle taught her even more about the importance of health and wellness. Ever since graduating and turning her lifestyle around (and losing ~15 lbs in the process), she continues to be passionate about helping others make the same commitment to looking and feeling their best.
Vin’s science background guides many of the principles taught in Fitfilled Foundations, and Kayla’s supportive and compassionate coaching is what will ultimately lead you towards success!
Healthy living isn’t the only thing we care about. We both prioritize time with family and friends – and they happen to be a festive bunch, so we’re no strangers to the challenges of balancing a healthy lifestyle with social occasions! … I don’t have access to a gym or gym equipment
No problem! While a gym provides you with the most equipment options, we can easily design an effective workout program for you to do at home, or wherever you prefer to exercise.
… I’m a vegetarian (or vegan)?
That’s fine with us! Nutrition is NOT one-size-fits-all, and we don’t push you into a specific way of eating. We do teach foundational nutrition principles that apply to different ways of eating, and we help you figure out what’s best for you.
We’ve worked with many vegetarians and vegans, and for this reason, we have educational material in our program specifically dedicated to these dietary approaches.
… I’m pregnant or planning to get pregnant
Pregnancy is definitely not the right time to go after weight loss. But how you eat, exercise, and live during pregnancy has a significant influence on the health and development of your baby, which means that you should actually be paying MORE attention to these factors rather than less!
Our program includes tools and educational material specific for pregnancy, including convenient charting of your weight to make sure you gain enough to support a healthy pregnancy, but also avoid unnecessarily increasing the amount of weight you need to lose after birth.
And given that the habits our program will teach you for supporting a healthy pregnancy will also drive effective weight loss with just a few small tweaks, our program will leave you several giant steps ahead when it’s time for you to lose baby weight.
… nothing has worked for me in the past

… I have “bad” genetics, just looking at food makes me gain weight
Life isn’t always fair, but having “bad” genetics is by no means a deal breaker.
For example, it’s common for people to attribute disease risk to genetics, but did you know that there are very few diseases that are completely dictated by genes?
Your lifestyle has a major influence on how genes are expressed, so even if you feel like you gain weight just by looking at ice cream, it doesn’t mean you’re doomed. It just means you have less margin for error than people who have “good” genetics.
Having “bad” genes may require a little extra dedication, but success is still very much within reach, and we’ll coach you through making the best out of the hand you were dealt.
In many cases, difficulty losing weight and improving energy levels is more related your metabolism than your genes. This is our specialty (and a primary focus of Vin’s PhD)! With the adjustments that we’ll coach you through, success may very well be closer than you think!
… I hate to cook
We don’t like to cook either. In fact, Vin hates it, but despite that, he’s been fully committed to the benefits of healthy eating since 2007.
Most people would rather not have a job, but they’re committed to being able to financially support themselves. The commitment to healthy eating is just as important. And the good news is that it can be easy to eat the foods your body will thrive on – even if you hate to cook.
Our program is very much based on efficiency. If you don’t like to cook, we have an approach for you that makes it simple and easy to put healthy meals together in the least amount of time possible.
… I don’t want to lose weight?
The main focus of our program is using a healthy lifestyle as a foundation to get the most out of life. Weight loss need not be part of this. The main reason why we focus on weight loss is because for most people, unwanted weight gain is the first obvious sign of things heading in the wrong direction.
By helping people lose weight through healthy habits, we also help them realize that they were missing out on much more than just a leaner figure. We help them improve their lives in ways that go far deeper than appearance.
Regardless of whether your goals are related to appearance, physical performance, or anything else, our program will be a great fit as long as your goal fits within the context of promoting good health.
